Cameron Diaz feels "devastated" about the Los Angeles wildfires

The 52-year-old actress and her 'Back in Action' co-star, Jamie Foxx, both know "so many people" who have been affected by the recent wildfires, and Cameron has admitted to feeling "heartbroken" about the situation

The Hollywood star told 'Extra': "We both know so many people, dozens of people, who've lost their homes, and then there's thousands more that we don't know and our heart goes out to everyone."

Cameron acknowledged that it will take a long time for the city of Los Angeles to recover from the wildfires.

She said: "We feel heartbroken and devastated to what's happened to everyone's homes and to the city and the firefighters that are working night and day to try to protect, to stop it.

"You know, it's devastating and it's not over, and we're just gonna see, you know, what it's going to take to build it back."

Earlier this week, actor Steve Guttenberg revealed that he's chosen to "stand and fight" amid the wildfires.

The film star explained that he was doing his best to safeguard his home and his neighbourhood amid a renewed threat posed by high winds.

Steve - whose home in Pacific Palisades has so far survived the wildfires - told PEOPLE: "At this time I have the choice of sitting down and walking or standing up and doing what I can. I choose to stand and fight. And help."

Steve actually joined forces with some of his neighbours in a bid to protect the local community.

A source told PEOPLE: "They are having meals together, working on getting brush out of the way, trying to put out smoldering fires, and fighting embers in the air.

"They have been getting food and necessities, portable heaters, water, through rapid relief groups and sharing everything, and basically are taking care of each other."
