Nick Cannon says "careless activity" is "probably" why he had five children in one year

The dad-of-12, who welcomed five of his children in 2022, has opened up about his fatherhood experiences, but insisted he didn't ever set out to have a huge family

He told Vulture: "It was also a little bit of, like, OK, God, how did I have five kids in one year?

    "Probably careless activity."

While the star admitted he isn't trying to be like father-of-14 Elon Musk, he hasn't ruled out having more children.

He said: "There was a point in time where I was just like, 'Nah, I'm done.'

"And, then I was like, 'Who am I to say that?' It seemed like it was such an emphatic thing.

"I never imagined that I would have 12 kids.

"So, it's one of those things where I love children. I love my life, and if it could keep going in the direction that it's going, why not?"

Earlier this year, Nick told how he thought having his testicles insured would be a "good joke" - before actually deciding to go through with it.

He approached by cosmetics company Dr Squatch over the idea of insuring his private parts for $10 million, but wasn't entirely serious about the idea before actually putting it in place.

Speaking on the 'Tea Time' podcast, he told Raven-Symone and Miranda Maday: "Well, see, that's the thing, I personally didn't. "Someone else took out the insurance policy out on them. It started off like 'Well that would be a good joke' but we really went through with it. Dr Squatch, who is known for like, manscaping and all that stuff, said that a lot of celebrity women were insuring their legs in case something .

"They were like 'What's your most valuable asset, Nick?' and I was like 'My balls!' And I got the insurance policy in my office, it's legit."

In June, Nick honoured the memory of his late son Zen on what would have been his fourth birthday.

The youngster tragically died, aged five months, in 2021 following a battle with brain cancer.

Nick is also father to 14-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey; Golden, eight, Powerful, four, and Rise, two, with Brittany Bell; three-year-old twins Zillion and Zion and Beautiful, two, with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary, two, with Bre Tiesi, Onyx, two, with LaNisha Cole; and two-year-old Halo with Zen's mom, Alyssa Scott.
