Alec Baldwin has blamed a "garbage truck the size of a whale" for his car crash in the Hamptons

The former 30 Rock star, 67, was driving a white Range Rover SUV in East Hampton, New York on Monday (13.10.25) with his brother Stephen Baldwin in the passenger seat when he swerved to avoid the truck and ploughed the vehicle into a "big fat tree"

In a video posted on Instagram, Baldwin explained he and his brother are both "fine" after the accident, but he totally "crushed" his wife Hilaria's car. He said: "I was in a car accident this morning. I'm fine. My brother Stephen was visiting me on Long Island and we spent the weekend out there for the film festival [Hamptons International Film Festival] ...

"This morning I was in this car accident, this guy cut me off in a truck. A big garbage truck ... A garbage truck the size of a whale ... I've never seen a garbage truck [so big]. It must have been something commercial for taking away material from construction or something...

"It was the biggest garbage truck I'd ever seen ... anyway... to avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife's car ...

"I crushed my wife's car, I feel bad about that but it's all fine. And I'm fine and my brother's fine ... "

Baldwin went on to thank the emergency services for their help at the scene, but insisted the car is a write off.

He said: "Thank you to the East Hampton Police Department for coming to my aid. They came and we filed a report with them. Officer Gerken. Lovely guy ..

"My wife's car was pretty smashed up. Big tree. Big fat tree."

The actor went on to reveal he's now heading to Los Angeles to see his wife Hilaria, who has been competing on US TV show Dancing With The Stars but was eliminated from the series last week.

He said: " I'm going to LA to see my family. Can't wait. Going to California to gather my family out there. Spend a few days out there then come home.

"And I'm still so proud of my wife. Hilaria I love you more than anything and I'm very proud of you ... "
