Melanie Blatt sold off all her designer gear from the 1990s at a jumble sale

The All Saints singer, 50, has revealed she splashed the cash on designer clothes and accessories after shooting to fame with the girl group but she cleared out her closet 15 years ago and sold everything off at low prices to raise money for charity - including a pair of Versace boots "for a fiver".

She told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I'm not sentimental so I haven't kept much. I took part in a charity jumble sale 15 years ago and sold all my designer stuff from the Nineties.

    "I didn't have a clue - I sold a pair of Versace snakeskin boots for a fiver."

In the interview, Melanie lifted the lid on her designer shopping sprees revealing she "had no filter" when it came to splashing the cash.

She said: "In the Nineties I had no filter. I'd go into Gucci and buy three leather jackets. My parents lost their minds.

"I went into Chanel once and because we dressed like 12-year-old boys I had a huge puffer coat on and didn't look like I should be there.

"I walked up to a sales assistant and said: 'I'll have that one please,' pointing to a bag. I got to the till and it was £9,000 and my credit card got declined.

"I knew I had the money, so I sat there for 45 minutes calling my accountant while they arranged my finances. I would not leave without that f****** bag."

Melanie went onto admit her style has changed a lot over the years and she no longer wears high heels - explaining she ditched fancy shoes after moving to the Spanish island of Ibiza.

She said: "[I will never wear] anything with a heel. I decided not to put myself through pain any more ten years ago when I moved to Ibiza.

"You can't wear heels in Ibiza. I can't believe I used to go raving in heels."

Melanie added that her favourite clothes these days are baggy white T-shirts with tracksuit bottoms and trainers while she also rarely carries designer handbags because she has back problems so she uses a simple Nike rucksack instead.
