Britney Spears has sent a sarcastic Christmas message to her family

The 44-year-old pop star has previously been open about her turbulent relationship with her family, and Britney has taken to social media to pen a belated, sarcastic Christmas message to them.

Alongside a photo of a Christmas tree, Britney wrote on Instagram: "Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can't fix ... to my dear sweet innocent family ... so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon ... I can't wait .... hello, beautiful Ivy ... I just want to hold you, my love ... Godspeed, friends (sic)"

Several members of Britney's family - including her mom Lynne - spent Christmas Day with her sister Jamie Lynn Spears. The pop star, on the other hand, celebrated the holidays with her son Jayden, 19.

A source told People: "Britney had a fun time celebrating Christmas with Jayden - it's been such a special holiday."

Earlier this year, Sam Asghari - Britney's ex-husband - revealed that he wanted to sign a prenuptial agreement before marrying the singer.

The actor and Britney were married between 2022 and 2024, but Sam urged his former spouse to agree a prenup so that she would be financially "protected".

Sam - who ultimately signed a prenup before tying the knot - said on the Trading Secrets podcast: "I wanted her to have a prenup.

"I wanted to make sure she's protected, because throughout her life, everybody - I don't know one person that's ever been in her life that didn't take advantage of her. So it's very sad. I wanted to make sure that I'm the person that [didn't] do that."

Sam also rubbished the suggestion that he tried to take advantage of Britney's fame and success.

The actor - who met Britney on the set of her Slumber Party music video back in 2016 - said: "I never get mad at the general public or fans or people that are seeing your life from a distance, especially now that I'm not in a relationship for over two years or a year and something.

"Looking from an outside perspective, I see there's an age difference, there's a fame difference, there's this, there's that. But realistically, we met as co-stars."
