Martin Short has hailed Catherine O'Hara as the "greatest, most brilliant, kindest, sweetest angel"

The 75-year-old comedy star first met Catherine - who passed away on Friday (30.01.26), aged 71 - when she was still a teenager, and he's paid a heartfelt tribute to the actress during a recent stage show with Steve Martin.

Speaking on stage in Texas with his comedy pal, Martin said: "Catherine O'Hara, I met when she was 18 years of age, and in all these years later, she has been the greatest, most brilliant, kindest, sweetest angel that any of us worked with. So God bless Catherine."

Martin and Steve, 80, subsequently raised their glasses to the actress, who died at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness.

Elsewhere, Kathryn Hahn has also paid tribute to the late actress.

Alongside a throwback photo of them together, Kathryn wrote on Instagram: "Dearest Catherine: Your legacy is kindness and goodness. You inspired me at every single turn, as an artist and a human. I could barely formulate a sentence around you, I admired you so much. Thank you , @chasesuiwonders , for this photo. (sic)"

Meanwhile, Apple TV and Lionsgate TV, which produces The Studio, the hit comedy series, have also paid tribute to the actress.

In a joint statement, the companies said: "We are all heartbroken by the loss of Catherine O'Hara.

"An undeniable legend, icon and incomparable talent, Catherine elevated every project she was a part of, including the singular genius she brought to her role on The Studio, and every transcendent performance she gifted to us.

"Her artistic accomplishments will forever bring humour, light and love for generations to come, and her brilliance and generosity of spirit touched everyone around her.

"We will hold her in our hearts always, and extend our thoughts and deepest sympathies to her husband Bo, and children, Matthew and Luke."
