Keke Palmer has no interest in living with romantic partners

The 32-year-old star explained that she has no wish to live under the same roof as her partners - even if they were married - as she discussed a new dating trend in which people talk about important topics such as marriage on their first date on Today with Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones.

Speaking on Monday's (02.02.26) episode of the NBC show, Keke said: "I think that's actually good. Just get it out of the way, because sometimes you end up talking to somebody and y'all never talk about anything real, any of the things that actually show compatibility life-wise."

When Hager initiated a role-play scenario involving a first date, Palmer - who has son Leo, two, with her former partner Darius Jackson - said: "I could be open, but one thing I need you to know is I never want to live together. I like my alone time.

"That's real, I'm speaking as The Keke.

"I just feel like Whoopi Goldberg said it best once. She was like, 'I don't want nobody in my house.' And I feel that. I'm serious - married, even."

Jones asked: "You're just gonna live around the corner?"

The Pickup star responded: "Around the corner would be great. You can be in the guest house, we can be on the same land, but I'm over there and he's over there. At best, separate rooms."

Keke explained that she thinks living separately from a partner would keep a marriage interesting.

She said: "Think about how fun it would be to be like, 'I'm going over to my man's house.' Over there, hi husband!

"It keeps it fun and exciting. I want to go sit on his couch."

Meanwhile, The 'Burbs actress revealed last year that she wants her son to know that he "can always become someone new".

Asked what she hopes Leo learns from her, Keke told Extra: "Just to never be afraid to evolve.

"I think we get so caught up in our storylines, and even when they're tough, we have a hard time getting out of them, but you can always shape-shift. You can always become someone new and let your happiness, let your joy and your peace, be that guiding force.

"I want him to know that happiness is his to take, but we got to take it, you know?"
