Kristen Bell insists she won't "roast people" at the Actor Awards

The 45-year-old actress is returning to host the ceremony formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for a third time, and she has given a hint of what to expect when the ceremony airs on Netflix on March 1.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: "I don't roast people.

"I want to keep it happy and fun. If I'm going to roast anybody, it's going to be me."

The Nobody Wants This star has been preparing for the big night, and she's turned to her and Dax Shepard's kids in the build-up.

Asked who she rehearses in front of, she replied: "My kids. If a joke survives that room, it can survive anything."

And she has been doing "a lot" of prep for the ceremony.

Kristen explained: "We rehearse the scripts, the beats, the walk-ups, the walk-aways, the camera marks.

"I practice reading a teleprompter, I practice pretending to not read a teleprompter even though I absolutely am. By show day, it's basically muscle memory."

She has been working with Monica Padman - who co-hosts the Armchair Expert podcast and appeared alongside Kristen in The Good Place - on the script for the ceremony.

She added: "I've been working with my dear friend Monica Padman. She knows how to write for my voice better than anyone."

The Frozen actress was the awards' first-ever host in 2018, 23 years after the first ceremony, with Megan Mullally taking over presenting duties the following year.

However, there was no official host again until Kristen returned last year, and she has pledged to show off her musical talents for the 2026 edition.

She said in a statement: "I've enjoyed hosting the show every time, so it was an easy decision to come back for a third. What I'm most excited for is the fact that I'll be doing what every actor does best... sing :)"

And awards bosses think she is the perfect host for the ceremony.

Showrunner and ex ecutive producer Jon Brockett added: "Kristen Bell knows this show, she knows this community and she knows how to keep everyone entertained and laughing without ever losing the heart of the night.

"Having Kristen return to host feels like welcoming back a member of the family. One you actually want to hang out with."
