    A frosty morning blast has prompted warnings for South Island motorists to take caution


    Temperatures have dropped as low as 4 degree celsius in parts.

    Waka Kotahi's urging drivers to watch out for hidden ice.

    Journey manager Tresca Forrester says she's expecting frostier conditions for Southland, Canterbury and Otago.

    She says the cold weather is forecast to last for several days.
