Police are set to meet those parked at Auckland's southern border today, with a beefed up presence

About 50 cars were parked up early this morning.

The self-proclaimed Sovereign Hikoi of Truth movement, had left Rotorua about 6 last night, wanting to head to Waitangi for a powhiri at midday today.

People taking part are warned any travel across the Auckland border is not permitted, and requires an exemption.

There are likely to be road closures put in place in the event that those involved in this hikoi, attempt to unlawfully cross the Auckland boundary.
