As people head home today from a long weekend away, Police are urging caution on the roads

As people head home today from a long weekend away, Police are urging caution on the roads

The road toll is currently sitting at one - after Saturday night's fatal crash in the Far North.

Last year four people died in the road toll period - which ends at 6 am tomorrow.

Road users should anticipate officers to be on patrol any time and anywhere - making sure everyone arrives at their destination safely.

They'll be watching out for any alcohol or drug influence, fatigue, distractions and speed.

Police say they don't accept people dying on our roads - and expect everyone to do their part.
