A 501 deportee has been sentenced to prison for two separate violent attacks on Auckland bus drivers

In December 2023, Carl Leu left a driver in Ponsonby with a broken tooth and fractured eye socket after forcing his way onto a bus.

Four months later he carried out the second attack in the same suburb - punching and kicking a female bus driver.

He was arrested again after another six months for burglary and obstructing police, before his final arrest in March for possessing methamphetamine.

Judge Stephen Bonnar has sentenced Leu to two-years in prison after discounts for guilty pleas, upbringing, and mental health issues.
