Balmier winter conditions are expected for many parts of the country this weekend

Sub-tropical airflow and westerly winds are causing warmer than average weather in a number of places.

WeatherWatch says many places could be up to 4 degrees warmer than usual today.

And tomorrow Canterbury in particular will be above average.

It says windy conditions in some hilly areas will also help to lift temperatures, especially in the east.
