The upper North Island is in the firing line for more messy weather

The upper North Island is in the firing line for more messy weather

MetService has issued a thunderstorm watch for Northland, Auckland, Great Barrier Island, Coromandel Peninsula and the Bay of Plenty from late this evening.

It says an unstable northwest airflow lying over the northern North Island brings a moderate risk of thunderstorms.

There's also the possibility of localised downpours.
