A wave of good weather on the West Coast has aided crews working to re-open State Highway 6

A wave of good weather on the West Coast has aided crews working to re-open State Highway 6

The section of road between Westland's Haast to Lake Moeraki has been shut since rain pummelled the area, causing slips, rockfall and cracking.

NZTA spokesperson, Mark Pinner says crews were able to complete a significant chunk of rock removal via helicopter over the weekend.

He confirms it aims to re-open the key route in coming days -- with a further update expected Wednesday.
