Temperatures remain warm, despite downpours in parts of the North Island

Metservice has issued heavy rain watches for Northland and Auckland.

A severe thunderstorm watch is also in place for Northland - with parts of the region experiencing flooding today.

State Highway One through the Mangamuka Gorge, is expected to be closed most of today, due to a slip.

Forecaster Gerard Bellam, says Hokianga had a minimum temperature of 18 degrees overnight, and the rest of the country's looking warm too.

He says it'll be 4 to 6 degrees above average in Central and Southern parts of the country.
