A warning the worst could still be yet to come, from blustery wet weather in the upper North Island

A warning the worst could still be yet to come, from blustery wet weather in the upper North Island

Heavy rain watches and warnings cover Northland, Auckland and Coromandel - until early Thursday.

It's cut power to some in Northland and Auckland, and forced multiple road closures.

MetService Metereologist Katie Lyons says a month's rain could fall in coming days - easing today but picking up again tomorrow.

She says with the amount of rain that's fallen in Northland, one heavy downpour could push an area over the edge.
