Health officials are still finalising the plan for Covid-19 vaccinations in the Chatham Islands

Health officials are still finalising the plan for Covid-19 vaccinations in the Chatham Islands

The Canterbury District Health Board expects everyone on the islands to be fully vaccinated by the end of June.

However, a spokesperson says this is subject to a range of factors for remote areas like Pitt Island.

It plans on vaccinating the community in one go to avoid wasting doses, as the vaccine can only spend five days out of its super-cold freezer.

The DHB is also taking the remoteness and small population of the islands into consideration.
