Porirua's mayor says they're incredibly lucky after the weekend's wild weather

Porirua's mayor says they're incredibly lucky after the weekend's wild weather

On Saturday, the Wellington region received 100 millimetres of rain over a fifteen hour period.

It's been labelled a once-in-a-decade rainfall event, and many homes and businesses are still in cleanup mode two days on.

Anita Baker says despite that they're calling the weekend a win...and is asking residents to chip in.

She asks people to clear any grates that may be outside their houses as council can't get around the whole city in one day.
