    MetService warns southwesterlies of up to 90-kilometres an hour will batter the region

    Power distributor Vector has teams ready to respond to power outages, and expects western areas to be particularly affected.

    It's urging everyone to check their devices are charged - and keep a power bank and torch handy just in case.
