Wild weather is beginning to WREAK havoc in the South Island

Wild weather is beginning to WREAK havoc in the South Island

Heavy snow is disrupting roads, closing State Highway 94 from Te Anau to Milford.

MetService has issued road snowfall warnings for Crown Range and Lindis Pass, while the West Coast will be under a severe thunderstorm watch from 3pm.

Communications Meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the South Island isn't out of the woods yet and there's potential for more snow on the alpine passes.

He says if anyone's planning to travel, they need to stay up to date with the forecast.
