Wellington Water is warning the public after heavy rainfall caused wastewater from two treatment plants to flow into waterways

Wellington Water is warning the public after heavy rainfall caused wastewater from two treatment plants to flow into waterways

The Porirua and Seaview treatment plants discharged into the Waiwhetu Stream and the coastal marine area near Rukutane Point.

The water agency is assuring people the water is fully treated, but may cause discolouration, and recommends swimmers stay away for up to three days.
