Concerns too many Christchurch residents are throwing out dangerous waste

The council's Resource Recovery team has seen an increase in fires on kerbside collection trucks and processing facilities this year, with 42 fires in total since 2020.
Hazardous waste such as batteries and gas bottles are also rising.
Resource Recovery Team Leader Tania Lees with more battery powered products on the market, people need to be aware - particularly of embedded batteries such as in laptops.
Lee says they're increasing the number of fires.
