MetService heat alerts are likely to be issued for summer's first week

MetService heat alerts are likely to be issued for summer's first week

It's forecasting midweek temperatures eight-degrees above average - for Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and the eastern South Island.

Napier could receive the first alert - with a forecast of heat topping 24-degrees for the next two days.

Metereologist Clare O'Connor says the alerts are issued for sustained warm weather.

She says this is exactly what's happening in Napier and temperatures aren't dropping.
