Rower Mahe Drysdale admits he's been given the best possible chance of succeeding at the Tokyo Olympics

The two-time Olympic champion is set to claim the single sculls boat for the Games, with main rival Robbie Manson choosing the double sculls boat instead.

It prevents the pair from competing with each other early in the year, and instead build towards top form in July.

Drysdale says it's a good outcome.



Drysdale's first major event will be in a World Cup in Italy in May.
