    The National Special Olympics torch is lighting up the bottom of the north this weekend

    The National Special Olympics torch is lighting up the bottom of the north this weekend


    Athletes from the Wellington District along with Police staff, coaches, and families will carry the flame to generate awareness for the games in Christchuch.

    It'll start at Lower Hutt's Police Station on Saturday, before heading by boat to Wellington, then finishing up at Parliament.

    The flame started in Northland last month.
