The NRL has bowed to pressure and shifted next weekend's preliminary final involving the Melbourne Storm to an earlier timeslot

The match was due to kickoff at 7:50pm local time in Queensland, by which point the AFL grand final involving two Melbourne teams would have been underway for 35 minutes.

That provoked an uproar from Storm fans.

The match will now kick off at 4pm local time, or 6pm New Zealand and thereby avoiding a clash.
