Former NRL hard man Mark Geyer believes a 2020 NRL is unlikely to go ahead.

Competition organisers have been scrambling to re-start the competition, targeting May 28 for players to return to the field.

Geyer says the enthusiasm of NRL bosses to get their game going again, is great.

Breakers owner Matt Walsh hopes cuts to player salaries in the Australian basketball league don't happen.

Players have accepted cuts of up to 50-per cent for the season, to counter the expected revenue loss from the impacts of Covid-19.

The cuts will be re-assessed in three months and Walsh says it buys them time to avoid the cuts altogether.
