Athletics coach Alberto Salazar has appealed against his four-year ban for doping violations to the Court of Arbitration for Sport

Athletics coach Alberto Salazar has appealed against his four-year ban for doping violations to the Court of Arbitration for Sport

Salazar was given the ban by the US Anti-Doping Agency in September as head of the Nike Oregon Project, a camp designed to develop American endurance athletes.

    He's denied any wrongdoing.

The country's newest snow sports champion has suffered an injury setback.

17-year-old Alice Robinson has pulled out of the second World Cup giant slalom in the United States this month, suffering bone bruising on a knee she tweaked in training before her season-opening win in Austria.

Robinson will resume her season in France a week before Christmas.

A problem for the New Zealand Trotting Cup's most successful driver ahead of today's race.

Ricky May has seven previous Cup wins, but if he's to add to that tally he'll need to stop his drive A G's White Socks from breaking into a gallop early.

He says it's hard to work out why it's happening.

Spankem's the race favourite marginally ahead of last year's winner The Fixer.

Cricket's Plunket Shield has delivered no outright results in the third round, courtesy of disruptive weather.

However, Auckland's Lockie Ferguson looks primed for a test call-up against England after taking four for 23 from 9.3 overs in the first innings against hosts Wellington.

Test incumbents Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls made ducks in the Central Districts-Canterbury match in Nelson.

Neil Wagner took six for 114 from 40.2 overs for Northern Districts against Otago in Dunedin, but local all-rounder Michael Rippon shone throughout with match figures of nine for 93 and 98 with the bat.

All Whites coach Danny Hay's looking to revolutionise the way New Zealand plays football by instilling more expansive tactics ahead of friendlies against Ireland and Lithuania this week.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has won his ATP tennis finals opener against Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in London.

Brisbane Bronco David Fifita has walked free after a three-day stint in a Bali police station but will now return home to explain his actions to the NRL integrity unit.

The 19-year-old allegedly hit a nightclub security guard while riding on the back of a scooter on Saturday morning and was subsequently arrested.

England's Jonny Bairstow has been reprimanded for a spot of potty mouth after his dismissal in the deciding Twenty20 cricket match against New Zealand at Eden Park.

He's been pinged by the ICC for using "an audible obscenity".

It's the second time Bairstow has received such a sanction this year, having also picked up a demerit point for swinging his bat at the stumps during a one-dayer against Pakistan in May.

Two-time Olympian Jaime Nielsen will return to the New Zealand track cycling team for next month's World Cup in Cambridge.

She's back in the endurance squad after the birth of her daughter.
