Australian test cricket captain Pat Cummins wants clarity over coach Justin Langer's contract status beyond this summer's Ashes series

Australian test cricket captain Pat Cummins wants clarity over coach Justin Langer's contract status beyond this summer's Ashes series

The future of Langer, who comes off contract in mid-2022 and has made clear his desire to continue, remains an unresolved talking point.

He came under intense pressure to keep his job last year, when Cummins and other on-field leaders delivered forthright feedback about dressing-room disgruntlement.

Regardless of a Twenty20 World Cup crown and an impending Ashes win over England, speculation remains that Cricket Australia will opt to move Langer on.

Cummins insists the Australian test side "absolutely love" Langer and the work he is doing.
