Black Cap Ajaz Patel hopes more cricket pitches in New Zealand can present opportunities for spin bowlers to thrive

Black Cap Ajaz Patel hopes more cricket pitches in New Zealand can present opportunities for spin bowlers to thrive

The 36-year-old is coming off an 11-wicket man-of-the-match haul in the third test against India, to complete an unprecedented 3-nil series sweep of the hosts.

He has 85 wickets from 18 away matches and zero wickets from three games at home.

Patel has pointed to the Plunket Shield's late start and finish as a possible influence on venues this season.

Black Caps coach Gary Stead admits it'll be tricky for New Zealand pitches to match the sub-continent.
