An annoying last wicket stand is keeping Canterbury from an emphatic victory on the final day of their second round Plunket Shield match against Central Districts in Nelson

An annoying last wicket stand is keeping Canterbury from an emphatic victory on the final day of their second round Plunket Shield match against Central Districts in Nelson

The visitors need just the one wicket to win by more than an innings but the last pair of Ajaz Patel and Raymond Toole have survived more than 10 overs, with a delayed lunch now being taken.

Canterbury's inevitable win has been powered by a maiden first class double century to stand in captain Rhys Mariu...who says his 240 across day two and three was memorable.

Northern Districts just need three more wickets to beat Auckland in Hamilton.
