Former Black Cap Ross Taylor is backing the idea of a potential New Zealand side in Australia's Big Bash League

Former Black Cap Ross Taylor is backing the idea of a potential New Zealand side in Australia's Big Bash League

He told the ABC Sport Podcast with most Australian sporting leagues having at least one New Zealand team, it makes sense to add cricket to that mix.

Meanwhile, New Zealand opener Finn Allen's struggles in the Big Bash League have continued, bowled for a duck during his Perth Scorchers' two-wicket loss against the Melbourne Renegades.

It's the third straight game Allen has failed to make it through the first over of his side's innings.

Brisbane Broncos playmaker Ezra Mam is set for a nine-game suspension after being sent a breach notice by the NRL for bringing the game into disrepute.

The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to drug driving and driving without a licence following an incident in October.

Mam was fined and disqualified from driving for nine months, and was issued an infringement notice for failing to have proper control of a vehicle.
