Former New Zealand cricketer and coach John Bracewell is praising captain Mitchell Santner's use of spinners and tactics in general during their Champions Trophy final run

Former New Zealand cricketer and coach John Bracewell is praising captain Mitchell Santner's use of spinners and tactics in general during their Champions Trophy final run

The Black Caps face India on Sunday in Dubai, looking for the side's first title in the ODI format since the ICC knock-out tournament victory in 2000.

Bracewell says Santner has an instinct for what's needed.

Central Districts captain Tom Bruce has scored the third-highest first-class score by a New Zealander, 345 against Auckland in Plunket Shield action at Eden Park's outer oval as part of CD's 700 for five declared.

Auckland were 143 for three at stumps on the second day.

Bruce's tally sits behind Bert Sutcliffe's two highest scores of 385 and 355, both for Otago.

White Fern Melie Kerr's become the sixth cricketer to bag a five-wicket haul in India's WPL.

Kerr's clinched figures of five for 38, the best return in Mumbai history to help beat the Warriorz by six wickets with nine balls to spare chasing 151.
