    Proverbial white smoke has emerged from the Australian cricket team's HQ in the Caribbean on their West Indies tour


    Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey has been anointed the ninth custodian of the team song, "Under the Southern Cross".

    Previous holder Nathan Lyon has passed on the mantle after 67 renditions, but has ruled out retiring.

    He took over the role from Mike Hussey more than 12 years ago.



    The inaugural custodian was fellow gloveman Rod Marsh.
