Australia's Cameron Green has broken the record for the highest priced overseas player in Indian Premier League history, bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders ..

The winning bid translates to 4.78 million New Zealand dollars, although he'll only see around 3.4 million dollars of that owing to a new IPL rule that caps what overseas players can earn.

The rest goes into a BCCI 'player welfare' fund.

Three Kiwis have also been signed for the Knight Riders for somewhat less than Green's commanded - with Tim Seifert , Finn Allen and Rachin Ravindra also heading to Kolkata.

Pace bowlers Zak Foulkes and Matt Henry have gone to the Chennai Super Kings while Jacob Duffy is Royal Challengers Bangalore bound and Kyle Jamieson is heading to the Delhi Capitals.

Several New Zealanders - like Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips and Lockie Ferguson - were already retained by their franchises.
