The New Zealand women's hockey team has extra motivation to win its pool at the World Cup in the Netherlands and Spain

The New Zealand women's hockey team has extra motivation to win its pool at the World Cup in the Netherlands and Spain

This morning's 3-1 win over England has the Black Sticks top of pool B ahead of Friday morning's final pool game against India.

A win and possibly a draw will secure top spot and a direct passage through to the quarter finals where they would remain in Amsterdam.

But defeat would see them travel to Spain for a crossover match.

Coach Darren Smith says at least they can't now be eliminated in pool play.
