Black Ferns lock Eloise Blackwell is hailing a change to the schedule for the re-arranged women's Rugby World Cup

The Auckland and Whangarei-based tournament has been extended by eight days to prioritise player welfare with five-day minimum rest periods.

It starts on October 8 and finishes on November 12.

Blackwell is thrilled with World Rugby's initiative.

Matches will now be staged on weekends and feature triple headers during pool play.
