The Chiefs playmaker will steer the All Blacks from first five in Saturday's rematch against Argentina in Brisbane.
His only previous start in the jumper was in 2018 against France.
Coach Ian Foster says without Richie Mo'unga they have to manage Beauden Barrett, who comes off the bench.
The team is Joe Moody, Taukei'aho, Lomax, Tuipulotu, Vaa'i, Blackadder, Savea, Sotutu, Perenara, McKenzie, Bridge, Tupaea, Rieko Ioane, Jordan, Jordie Barrett.
The bench is Taylor, Bower, Tuungafasi, Scott Barrett, Jacobson, Christie, Beauden Barrett and Braydon Ennor.
