Hamish Kerr has revealed what was coursing through his mind in the moments leading up to his gold medal-winning attempt in the men's high jump final at the Paris Olympics

Hamish Kerr has revealed what was coursing through his mind in the moments leading up to his gold medal-winning attempt in the men's high jump final at the Paris Olympics

The 27-year-old's clinched New Zealand's ninth gold medal of these Games, beating American Shelby McEwan in a jump-off after neither could clear 2.38 metres.

Kerr says he had mental clarity before attempting the winning 2.34-metre leap.
