An emotional Timoci Tavatavanawai after earning a first All Blacks selection

The Highlanders co-captain and utility back is one of five new faces named for next month's three test series against France.

Tavatavanawai says his first thought was to his late father.

One of the other new faces is Du'Plessis Kirifi, with the Hurricanes flanker included at the age of 28.

Forwards coach Jason Ryan admires his maturity.
