    Dutchman Michael van Gerwen has slumped to his worst non-Covid darts world championship result since 2012


    The three-time world champion has been ousted 4-1 in the fourth round by two-time winner Gary Anderson who marches into the quarter-finals.

    van Gerwen has advanced to at least the quarter-finals in every years since 2013, apart from 2022 when he withdrew due to a positive Covid test.

    2024 champion Luke Humphries also booked his spot with a comfortable 4-1 win over Kevin Doets .

    The quarter-finals are on Friday morning our time after London's Alexandra Palace takes a New Year's Eve breather.
