The 31-year-old's been named in the squad aiming to defend their title in Paris - just six months removed from suffering a serious knee injury at the Dubai leg of the World Series.
Hirini says - after everything she's battled through - earning selection for her third Games is special.
Meanwhile - some familiar faces have missed out on the 12-strong men's squad.
Veteran trio Sione Molia , Joe Webber and Tim Mikkelson have only made the cut as travelling reserves.
