Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin will compete in his first IndyCar series race next month

Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin will compete in his first IndyCar series race next month

He's been confirmed as a starter by Team Penske for the series finale in Florida on October 25.

Plans to race in the American open-wheel championship earlier this year in Indianapolis were scuppered by Covid-19.

The 27-year-old's ambitions built momentum after encouraging pre-season testing.

McLaughlin has since put himself in position for a third straight Supercars' title, leading the championship by 143 points with three races remaining.
