The second Formula One practice is just under way at the Australian Grand Prix

The second Formula One practice is just under way at the Australian Grand Prix

New Zealand's Liam Lawson will be hoping for some better runs than first practice, when he ran into a spot of bother as he finished 16th-fastest.

That wasn't the ideal inaugural outing for Red Bull for Lawson ... as ESPN F-1 writer Nate Saunders told Ryan Bridge.

The red flags are flying in Melbourne - as well as the cars.

Formula Three qualifying was curtailed by the safety car - rising Kiwi driver Louis Sharp will start 15th from 30 F-Three cars for Sunday's feature race.

Meanwhile the latest Supercars sprint race at Albert Park saw two incidents as Cam Hill took the chequered flag from fellow Aussie Nick Percat, for his maiden victory in the series.

The best of the New Zealanders was Andre Heimgartner in fifth place.
