Alpha Tauri driver Pierre Gasly has recorded the fastest time in Formula One pre-season testing in Bahrain

Alpha Tauri driver Pierre Gasly has recorded the fastest time in Formula One pre-season testing in Bahrain

Focus has also been on the new-look Mercedes and the American team Haas missing the start after some equipment failed to arrive on time.

Gasly clocked one minute 33.9 seconds on the 5.4-kilometre desert track with the floodlit session ending a few minutes early under a red flag when Red Bull driver Sergio Perez got stuck in a gravel trap.

Gasly finished ahead of Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, while seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton was 11th.
