Midfielder Alex Rufer insists there's no awkwardness in the proximity of the All Whites' opening World Cup qualifier to the start of the A-League season

Midfielder Alex Rufer insists there's no awkwardness in the proximity of the All Whites' opening World Cup qualifier to the start of the A-League season

This afternoon's clash with Tahiti in Vanuatu comes just a week out from the first match of the 2024-25 campaign in Australasia's top professional competition.

The New Zealand squad includes a number of Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC players - including Nix skipper Rufer - but he's not worried about that being a factor.

Kickoff in Port Vila is set for 3pm.
