    Football Ferns coach Michael Mayne has offered a short- and long-term solution for New Zealand to close the gap to the top nations in the world


    It comes after the 33rd-world ranked side were pummelled 6-nil in Kansas City by Olympic champions the United States - ranked second in the world.

    The New Zealand women also suffered back-to-back defeats to Mexico.

    Mayne outlines the keys to helping the Football Ferns thrive.
