    Hastings Police are asking parents to be alert - after a suspicious incident in Whakatu


    About 3.15pm yesterday a man approached a girl and interacted with her while she walked home.

    Detective Sergeant Karli Whiu says the girl did the right thing by avoiding him, walking home and telling caregivers.

    Police are still working to understand what happened, and asking for any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around that time.
