Police have confirmed the number of people who died in a house fire in Manawatu's Sanson is four, including three children

Emergency services were called to the property, southwest of the town on State Highway 1, at about 2.30 yesterday afternoon.

Police say the bodies of two children and an adult have been recovered from the scene this evening, and they're now working to find and recover the body of the third child.

They'll complete a thorough scene examination tomorrow.

They aren't seeking anyone in relation to the fire.
